Jackson Township Strengthens Volunteer Fire Department to Ensure Community Safety and Independence

Jackson Township, Indiana – July 11, 2025 – Jackson Township leadership is proactively enhancing the capabilities of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department to ensure continued reliable and high-quality fire and emergency response services for all residents. The township has initiated steps to expand recruitment efforts, improve training programs, and invest in infrastructure upgrades.

Since its founding in 1972, the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department has consistently provided critical emergency services independently. Township officials view upcoming transitions as an opportunity to further strengthen local resources and capabilities without increasing taxpayer burdens.

“We are fully committed to maintaining a strong, capable volunteer fire department,” stated Audra Wilcoxson, Jackson Township Trustee. “We have launched a robust recruitment campaign, welcomed several new volunteers, and expect more to join soon. Our top priority remains the safety and well-being of all township residents.”

The Jackson Township advisory board confirms that existing township financial reserves are sufficient to support necessary enhancements in volunteer training, modern equipment, and operational readiness to provide local fire protection services.

“We have the resources, community support, and strategic planning needed to effectively bolster our own volunteer fire services, ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimal safety,” said Jeff Cook, Advisory Board Member.

Immediate initiatives include:

  • Recruitment: Launching an intensive recruitment campaign designed to substantially increase department membership by year-end.
  • Training: Upgrading training and certification programs to enhance volunteer preparedness and emergency response capabilities.
  • Infrastructure: Investing strategically in essential firefighting equipment and infrastructure to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Jackson Township remains committed to transparency and will provide regular updates to the community. Public safety and reliable emergency response remain paramount priorities and will continue uninterrupted as Jackson Township moves confidently forward.
